Youth Advocacy Council

Join the Youth Advocacy Council
The Youth Advocacy Council is a new initiative in Escambia County. It replaces the Youth Advisory Council. Our goal with this progam is to engage students in every school within in Escambia County to advocate for the environment and the beauty of our community. Students will have the opportunity to earn critical service-learning hours and develop important leadership skills. Each school will be provided with resources to assist in the cleanup of the campus and the surrounding areas with the support of Keep Pensacola Beautiful. Students will also have the opportunity to contribute to Keep Pensacola Beautiful's programming, participate in training sessions, and visit local municipalities/businesses, while acting as ambassadors and leaders for environmental and beautification efforts in Escambia County.

The Youth Advocacy Council will be selected no later than September 2023. Serving on the Youth Advocacy Council also makes you eligible to serve on the Keep Florida Beautiful Youth Council and/or the Keep America Beautiful Youth Council.

"I am a state officer for Future Business Leaders of America. Our state activity is Keep Florida Beautiful. My involvement will serve my personal passion for the environment and the mission of Our Corner. I am excited to work alongside his council and end my senior year helping a greater cause."

-Kathryn T. 12th Grade Pensacola High School

"I joined Our Corner’s Youth Council because my love for the environment has recently flourished. I have always been passionate about the environment throughout my life but I thought that now that I’m in high school, I can do more for my community since I have the power to do that. I started helping out at Pensacola Mess Hall with volunteering and we saved a lot of paper and reused a bunch of stuff but I wanted more. I came to the Youth Council to see if I can help out anymore and have a bigger impact on Pensacola."

-Vidhi P, 11th Grade Pensacola High School

"I want to be able to work with others to make a change. Working with Our Corner allowed us to create a project last year that was a great experience. I am glad I have access to this opportunity."

-Madison T. 12th Grade Pensacola High School

"It is rewarding to be able to help make a difference in our community and especially doing it with an amazing group"

-Asmi M. 12th Grade Pensacola High School

"I am excited to be a part of the Youth Advisory Council to find an important purpose while helping to beautify our city and being a part of a strong community council, with my fellow peers"

-Johanne H. 12th Grade Pensacola High School

"I am passionate about the environment and just seeing a change in the community. I am very interested in the science field and in college, I hope to major in Biology. By joining Our Corner’s Youth Council, I want to make a difference in our community and make our city a better environment to live in. Taking on a new beautification project for our community and working with the people around me is something I am very excited about!"
